BACKGROUND
Re-Designing MJR THEATRE'S mobile movie ticket ordering app
To deepen my expertise in UX design, I completed the Google UX Design Professional Certificate on Coursera. During this program, I strenthened my strong foundation in user experience principles, developed user personas, designed wireframes, built low- and high-fidelity prototypes, conducted UX research and usability testing, and delivered a final app prototype redesign for MJR Theatres.

DESIGN CHALLENGE
Designing a Better Moviegoing Experience – MJR Theatres App Prototype
The goal was to create a seamless and enjoyable digital experience that mirrors the excitement of going to the movies, ultimately improving customer satisfaction and engagement.

RESEARCH
Discovery & UX Research
In the Discovery & UX Research phase, I conducted interviews and created user personas and journey maps to understand the users I’m designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research was Tech-Savvy Millennials.
This user group confirmed initial assumptions that they often prioritize convenience and efficiency. They would appreciate the ability to browse movie showtimes, select seats, and purchase tickets directly from their smartphones.

Information Architecture
User Flow through the App
During the information architecture phase, I mapped out the app’s user flows to clarify navigation paths, reduce friction in key tasks, and ensure a logical, intuitive structure for a seamless movie-ticket booking experience.

Low-Fidelity Wireframes
Sketching and Wireframing
The low-fidelity wireframes served as an early blueprint for the redesigned MJR Theatres app, focusing on layout, structure, and functionality rather than visual design. I sketched out key screens such as the home page, movie listings, seat selection, and checkout flow to explore different navigation patterns and test how users might move through the app. These quick iterations helped validate the information architecture and user flows, ensuring the foundation of the app was intuitive, efficient, and aligned with user needs before moving into more detailed design.

High-Fidelity design and interactive prototype
From Wireframes to Interactive Prototype
In the high-fidelity stage, I transformed the approved wireframes into polished designs that reflected the MJR Theatres brand through consistent typography, color, and visual hierarchy. These designs emphasized clarity and accessibility while elevating the overall look and feel of the app. From there, I built an interactive prototype that simulated real user interactions such as browsing showtimes, selecting seats, and completing a purchase. This prototype allowed for usability testing and stakeholder feedback, ensuring the final experience was both visually engaging and functionally seamless.
