In previous years, Aptiv’s Sustainability Report was designed by an external agency. However, the project was fully transitioned in-house, where I led the comprehensive redesign of both the digital report and its accompanying website.

BACKGROUND

TRANSFORMING APTIV'S SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

Aptiv's sustainability efforts are focused on driving innovation in sustainable technologies, reducing environmental impact, and fostering social responsibility, all while maintaining a commitment to ethical practices and transparency.

In the redesign of Aptiv's Sustainability Report, my goal was to create a more engaging and accessible digital experience that accurately reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability. By bringing the project in-house, I had the opportunity to overhaul the visual design and structure, ensuring the report and its accompanying website were intuitive, visually appealing, and aligned with Aptiv's brand values.

DESIGN CHALLENGE

CREATE AND LEAD A COMPREHENSIVE REDESIGN OF APTIV’S SUSTAINABILITY DIGITAL REPORT AND WEBSITE

The design challenge for Aptiv’s Sustainability Report centered on transforming complex sustainability data into an engaging and user-friendly digital experience. The task required integrating detailed information in a visually appealing format while ensuring the content remained accessible and informative.

Balancing Aptiv's brand identity with modern design principles, I aimed to enhance readability and navigation across devices. Coordinating feedback from various stakeholders, addressing technical constraints, and meeting tight deadlines added layers of complexity, ultimately driving a successful and impactful redesign.

RESEARCH

BENCHMARKING AND BRAINSTORMING

During the benchmarking and brainstorming phase of Aptiv's Sustainability Report design, I benchmarked competitors’ sustainability reports, analyzed industry best practices and innovative design trends, and gathered inspiration that would help me create a visually compelling and highly informative report that aligns with Aptiv’s strategic sustainability objectives.

DESIGN PHASE 1

INITIAL DESIGNS AND FEEDBACK

In the initial design phase of Aptiv's Sustainability Report, I developed and presented multiple cover and interior layout options. Each concept was crafted to reflect Aptiv’s brand identity while offering distinct visual styles and thematic approaches. This variety allowed stakeholders to evaluate different design directions and provided a strong foundation for selecting the most impactful and cohesive design for the final report.

UPDATES AND ADJUSTMENTS

In Design Phase 2, I incorporated feedback from stakeholders, making targeted updates and adjustments to refine the report’s design. This iterative process ensured that the final product addressed all input effectively, enhancing visual appeal and alignment with Aptiv’s objectives while maintaining clarity and coherence throughout the sustainability report.

FINAL DESIGN

FINALIZING THE DIGITAL REPORT AND THE WEBSITE DESIGN

In the final design stage of Aptiv's Sustainability Report, I meticulously refined the layout and visuals to ensure coherence and brand alignment. This phase involved incorporating the latest round of stakeholder feedback, perfecting the infographics, and optimizing the digital format for various devices. Attention to detail was paramount as I ensured that all elements, from typography to color schemes, were consistent and visually appealing. The final product was not only a comprehensive and engaging digital report but also a testament to Aptiv's commitment to sustainability, effectively communicating their initiatives and achievements to a global audience.
